Biography

About Sophie Mann

My name is Sophie and I joined the third cohort of the EPSRC CDT in Geospatial Systems in September 2021.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham with an undergraduate degree in Geography BSc in August 2021. Throughout my undergraduate degree I studied a range of interdisciplinary modules, using Geospatial Data throughout my degree.

My MRes dissertation focused on using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data to determine sediment grain size on UK beaches.

I am now looking to expand this for my PhD by using a range of remotely sensed data to aid coastal management and protection, with my current research focusing on using SAR data to assess coastal vulnerability through assessing the granulometry and sediment budget on UK beaches.

PhD Topic: Using remotely sensed data to aid coastal management and protection, with a specific focus on using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite data.
